        On  July 2, 2024, in Astana, “Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Almaty” JSC signed an important agreement with the “Development Bank of Kazakhstan” and “China Power International Holding” on the intention to provide a syndicated loan forthe implementation of a large-scale wind farm construction project in the Akmolinsk Region.

        The signing of the documents took place during the Kazakhstan-China Business                                                                  
                Council in Astana, held ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit,   which Kazakhstan is chairing this year. The project involves the construction of five wind power plants with a total capacity of 220 MW, which will make a significant   contribution to the development of renewable energy and improve the ecological     situation in the region.

        The agreement encompasses the construction of the following wind power plants:

- Borey Wind Farm (100 MW);

- Energo Trust Wind Farm (50 MW);

- Sofievskaya Wind Farm (39 MW);

- Arkalyk Wind Farm (17 MW);

- JasilJel Energy Wind Farm (14,95 MW).

               This project aims to provide the Akmolinsk Region with environmentally clean      electricity, which will significantly reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.The project's implementation will be an important step towards achieving Kazakhstan’s  goals of increasing the share of renewable and alternative energy sources to 80% of   the country’s total energy balance by 2060.

               Representatives of the “Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Almaty” JSC emphasized that the agreement opens new prospects for mutually beneficial         cooperation and strengthening economic ties between Kazakhstan and China. “             We are pleased to support this important project, which aligns with our strategic goals for the development of sustainable energy sources”, said a bank representative.The Development Bank of Kazakhstan highlighted the significance of the agreement for the national economy and ecology. “This project will not only provide the region with clean energy but also significantly reduce harmful emissions, positively impacting the environment and the health of our citizens”, noted a representative of the bank.

      China Power International Holding expressed confidence in the successful implementation of the project and underscored the importance of international cooperation in the field of renewable energy. “We are proud to contribute to the development of               Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure and help the country achieve its ambitious green  energy goals”, said a company representative.

      The signing of this agreement marks an important milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector and the strengthening of the partnership between Kazakhstan and China. The wind farm construction project will not only provide the region with environmentally clean energy but also make a significant contribution to achieving national ecological goals.
